10 Year Post – A Tribute to Brad Fisher

It has been 10 years since the posting of my first blog post in September of 2010, dedicated to my close friend Jim Eerkes.

This 10-year blog post is dedicated to my close friend Brad Fisher. Brad passed in 2020 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. The loving support of his wife Jennifer and his entire family, is inspirational.

Brad and I met when we were young kids, introduced to each other by our parents who were close friends for many years. (Our parents had started an annual New Year’s Eve get-together, something Brad and I continued along with our families for 25 years.)

Brad and I lived life to its fullest growing up together and also getting into a little mischief together. We were pretty darn competitive with just about everything we did.

Golf was a focus for us while we were growing up and also the source of some unusual stories. (Competition and a brother-like friendship can contribute to one doing some very unusual things.)

We had a close friendship for 55+ years until Brad’s passing. Not many can say they had a close friend for such a long period of time. I am sure he is in heaven trying to figure out a way to get river-front development rolling and attract additional students to attend WSU while keeping a watchful eye on his family.

I am grateful for our years of friendship but miss the Fish very much.
